These are Maggie’s cookies, but she won’t eat them.  She likes baking more than she likes eating baked goods!  I get requests from her to make a cake…. and we will.  And then she’ll have two bites and then be done… leaving an entire cake just sitting around asking to be eaten. Trouble.  She [...]

I’ve decided I am going to do some  posts about some of my favorite places to go in London. I am definitely missing ol’ blighty! Hopefully this will help….

The Honest Sausage is a chain of sausage shacks, if you will, spotted around the royal parks in London. They are serve free range [...]

bubbles

I have a lot of photos to post from all the fun travel of the last few weeks. Why not start with a post about bubbles? Bubbles and summer… like peas and carrots. But more fun. Definitely.

Maggie figured out how to blow giant bubbles when we were on holiday in Bournemouth.   [...]

I recently finished reading the book London, by Edward Rutherford.  This is an epic story of a group of English families in London, spanning the last 2,000 years.  It starts with the Celts, then Romans, Saxons, Normans, Huguenots, Welsh, Flemish–all of them immigrating (or conquering) and mixing with the previous generation.  London is truly a cosmopolitan [...]

frittata, originally uploaded by –Barbara–.
I love frittatas. like a crustless quiche– but even quicker to throw together.
This one is just fried pancetta, leeks, garlic and spring green onions. 6 organic eggs, scrambled, mixed with the goods, s+p and baked in a hot oven for a half hour. If you can tolerate dairy, top with parmesean [...]

red and white might be the nation’s colors…. but green, grey and blue are what come to my mind when thinking of the landscape. okay, maybe a little golden sunshine here and there…(but not too much ;)

so I haven’t found an appreciation for the show….. but I really enjoyed wandering around the east end with Maggie on saturday while Noah did a choral workshop.  I was able to hear his piece performed, and it  was beautiful… After doing a little browsing on Brick Lane, Maggie and I also went the Geffrye [...]

a little apron

inspired by the tie-one-on apron challenge, i made a little apron for maggie out of a cloth napkin and some ribbon left over from christmas. sewed with wool yarn, this was easy-peasy. maggie preferred to wear it as a dress, so i might have to try and make her a proper dress she can go out [...]

a play – by – play:
We kicked off friday with a rush to make a costume for spooky storytime at Waterstone’s bookstore in Greenwich. We had one hour to cut up Noah’s socks, sew em’ into ears, and attach them to a hoodie. This became a cat costume with with the addition of [...]

Rockin’ 2008

, originally uploaded by Barbara Lee.
Well, I had meant to post an update. And I wrote it, but flickr was “getting a massage” yesterday and I lost the post. So… things are good, lots of pictures to post in the near future. Maggie is walking, Portland was great, I learned to knit, [...]

Auntie Mya, originally uploaded by Barbara Lee.

Had a lovely walk with Maggie and her Auntie Mya last week around the neighborhood where Noah grew up. The autumn colors were gorgeous, and Maggie enjoyed trying to eat the leaves.

Well, it’s definitely fall out. Thank god.  It took long enough though, that’s for sure. 85 degrees in October? Not used to that.  But now the weather has settled into a comfortable, but somewhat dreary, rainy-and-in-the-sixties/fifties pattern.

So, when I last wrote here, it was summer.  It was a nice summer, but very different than others [...]

Maggie has become such a curious baby… she tries to get her hands on (and her mouth around) just about anything in sight. She has started the early steps of crawling, but has found that rolling and reaching can work just fine as well. She loooves to “play” Daddy’s guitar, [...]

This weeks theme at Mama Says Om  is “joy”.

pure joy, originally uploaded by Barbara Lee.

This picture is joyful on so many levels. Noah has become an amazing father in these past 4 months… he can make Maggie smile like no one else… and those smiles are the ones I watch her reliving in her dreams [...]

11 weeks – smiles

Magnolia is 11 weeks old today… she is so delightful, and a really good baby. She is growing long and lean from mama’s milk… and she really is quite gorgeous. I find it a bit difficult to write about how things are “going”, because, well, she’s pretty boring most of the time.  Boring, but time-consuming, and also enchanting…. [...]
